My pup has roundworms!! ewe!?

My new puppy has just recovered from parvo and now has giriadia? and roundworms... I got this dog from a rescue not knowing he was sick.. so tired of dealing with one thing after another. My latest worry is my kids getting the roundworms, they do not clean the poop, I do but I have been told they can get it very easily. I have asked a doctor that I work with and he says not to worry, my next question is, do roundworms live in carpet, the pup missed a few times and got the carpet.. Im really nervous about this.
